Note: This only applies to customers on server host1.internetguruhosting.net
To add user authentication to a folder you need to create a .htaccess file (contains authenication settings) and a .htpassword file (contains user information) .
1. login to Usermin (https://host1.internetgruhosting.net:20000/)
2. select Applications
3. select Apache Options Files
Creating the .htaccess file
1. enter /home/<your domain>/html/<folder path> (where <folder path> is the folder that you want to secure) into the Add options for: field
2. select Add options for: This will create the .htaccess file and throw you in to the configuration screen for this file (You only need perform this once. On return visits you should get a clickable link to this folder)
Creating the .htpassword file
1. Select Access Control
2. Select Authentication type as “Basic”
3. In the Text file authentication box enter /home/<your domain>/html/<folder path>/.htpassword as the “User text file” and select the radio button next to the text box so that that it is no longer set to default.
4. Select Save
Adding users
1. Select Access Control
2. In the Text file authentication box, select “Edit Users”
7. add a new user name( Add a new user ) – you can also edit existing users
8. To change the password select the “Plain text” radio button and enter the new password
